Lyubov' Kuznetsova is a type, graphic and book designer, and a talented calligrapher. She was born in Tula, in 1928, on 25th of December. She graduated from Moscow Printing Institute in 1951 and then worked for a number of Russian type design organisations and publishers. She worked for VNII Polygraphmash (1951-1991) as a type designer, Head of Type Department and the chief of laboratory of special graphic forms. Kuznetsova worked as a graphic artist for publishing houses Mir, Progress, Raduga, APN, Voenizdat. Since 1992 she worked as a staff designer for ParaType, Moscow. For many years Kuznetsova specialized in Arabic type design; she designed many Arabic and Cyrillic typefaces. Some of her Arabic designs, in Naskh, Kufi, Nastaliq and other styles, were developed in co-operation with Egyptian, Iranian, and Lebanese calligraphers. Main Arabic fonts: Cairo, Naskhi Knizhnyi, Naskhi Aswani, Azarbud Display, Kuznetsova's Abridge, Ruq'ah, Vostok, Beirut, Grot, Basra, Hafiz, PT Maryam, Naskh Ahmad, PT Kufi (awarded by Diploma at contest TDC2, 1999), PT Zarrin Hatt, Suraya, PT Thuluth. Cyrillic-Latin types: Xenia, Xenia Western; Cyrillic versions: ITC Bookman (with Tagir Safaev), ITC Korinna, restored types: Bannikova, Elizabeth, Bazhanov, Telingater Display, Kuzanyan, etc.
