Veronika Elsner and Gunther Flake established their company in 1985 after years of free-lance experience in type design and typography. Today the Elsner+Flake Digital Library contains more than 2,500 fonts.

Strong point of the design studio is avoiding electronic modifications. All italics are digitized from original artworks. Complete kerning tables guarantee precise appearance and excellent legibility. Accents on caps and lowercase letters are individually designed. Many typefaces feature Small Caps and Old Style figures.
