(v1.2.2) |
(builds of the same version from both sources are functionally identical, but should not be installed side-by-side) |
- Create a Paratype account required to activate fonts.
- Visit your account page to select a Fontoscope service tier.
Things to note
- Fonts activated with Fontoscope remain active only while the app is running.
- Most applications instantly recognize newly activated fonts, while a few others (for instance, Figma Desktop) require a restart.
Can and Cannot
- You can use fonts activated with Fontoscope in the design process.
- You can experiment with as many fonts as needed until the perfect ones are selected.
- You can review your project with colleagues and customers, classmates and teachers.
- You cannot modify, save, copy, or share the fonts (font data and font files).
- Those of the fonts that were used to create published or distributed content, digital or printed, require commercial licenses available in the Paratype Web Store.
Questions...
- How many fonts can I activate simultaneously?
There is no formal limit. However, since fonts are using system resources, it is best to activate just the fonts you need at any one time
and deactivate fonts not in use.
- Can I browse the Fontoscope font collection using pangrams?
You can do it on the Fontoscope Catalog webpage.
Use Search in the Fontoscope app to quickly find and activate any font listed on that page.
- As a student, can I use Fontoscope for free for my school projects?
Yes, you can. Font licenses are required only if you want to publish your work.
- If my project is for an external customer, who should acquire licenses for the fonts?
It could be you or your customer. Your customer might prefer to have font licenses because they would be able to modify the content later.
